Starr’s & Stripes PowerWash provides certified soft wash and pressure washing to Wildwood homes throughout America’s fastest-growing city (U.S. News & World Report 2025). Sumter County’s largest city with approximately 20,000 residents. Family-owned Ocala-based crew, 35 to 40 minutes south via I-75. Middleton family homes welcome. Both retirees and younger households served. Independent service provider.

Wildwood sits in Sumter County, approximately 35 to 40 minutes south of Ocala via I-75 — closer than most of our service area communities. The city covers approximately 57 square miles with around 20,000 residents and growing rapidly. In 2025, U.S. News & World Report named Wildwood AMERICA’S FASTEST-GROWING CITY based on a 19.53 percent population increase from 2020 to 2024 across 859 cities analyzed. The city has grown from 15,730 residents in the 2020 Census to approximately 20,000 today, with continued growth driven by proximity to The Villages active adult community and the 2023 opening of Middleton, a master-planned community developed by The Villages but designed without age restrictions. Wildwood is now the largest city in Sumter County (county seat is Bushnell), and the Sumter County overall growth rate of 35 percent from 2015-2024 has been driven largely by Wildwood’s expansion.
In a city growing this fast, exterior home maintenance becomes both more important and more overlooked. New residents from out of state often do not anticipate Florida’s aggressive humidity-driven algae growth on stucco, vinyl siding, and shingle roofs. Established Wildwood homeowners who have lived in the city for decades sometimes accept exterior conditions that would have alarmed them when they first moved in. A rental pressure washer from the hardware store is cheap, but it usually does not kill the algae at the root and it can damage manufactured home siding, vent caps, and window seals. A budget out-of-town crew that does not return calls is no better. A bad professional job is worse than no job at all. Doing it right with the correct method and a fair written price up front is almost always the cheapest option over the long run, especially for properties in a city where home values are rising with the population growth.
Reach out by phone, text, or our online form. Most estimates come back the same day. We ask where in Wildwood you live (established Wildwood neighborhoods, Middleton, or one of the other newer developments), your home type (stick-built, manufactured, or new construction), and what specific services you need. You get a written price before any water hits your property. We are upfront about being an independent service provider rather than an official Villages or Middleton vendor.
Our certified crew arrives at your Wildwood address with commercial-grade equipment and the training to know which technique belongs on which surface. Established Wildwood homes get gentle low-pressure soft wash that protects original materials. Middleton family homes get certified soft wash on the modern stucco and current shingle finishes. Manufactured homes get a specialized low-pressure approach. Asphalt shingle roofs get ARMA-approved technique that protects the manufacturer warranty. New construction homes get the pre-move-in or early post-move-in cleaning that addresses construction dust, drywall residue, paint overspray, and residual algae. You do not need to be home. We text updates and send after-photos when complete.
Certified soft wash kills algae and mold at the root, not just on the surface. Most Wildwood homes only need this service every 12 to 18 months. The result is a property that looks the way you remember it looking when you first moved in, with the kind of curb appeal that holds your home value in a city where the housing market is actively appreciating.
Wildwood is having a moment. Once a quiet rural Sumter County city established in 1881 (the post office has been continuously operating since then, the city was named for its remote location in the woods), Wildwood has been transformed by The Villages adjacency into one of the most actively growing communities in the United States. The 2025 U.S. News & World Report distinction as America’s fastest-growing city is genuine, third-party-verified, and based on hard Census data covering 2020 through 2024. With approximately 20,000 residents today, Wildwood is now Sumter County’s largest city and the regional service hub for the broader Villages metropolitan statistical area. Most Wildwood residents have noticed that out-of-town service companies tend to either ignore Wildwood (treating it as a Villages bedroom community) or overcharge based on the Villages-adjacent zip code. We do not. We serve Wildwood properties on a regular schedule with fair pricing calibrated to the actual scope of the work.

Middleton is the master-planned community that opened in 2023 within Wildwood, developed BY The Villages developer (the Morse family entity) but designed as a family-focused alternative to the age-restricted Villages community. Middleton features modern single-family homes, green space, planned retail and dining, swimming pools, sports courts, playgrounds, dog parks, and miles of walking trails. The community is still under development with continued buildout planned through the 2020s and beyond. Middleton represents the family-growth segment of Wildwood's expansion: working-age households with children moving to the Wildwood area for affordability, family-friendly amenities, and the regional location between Orlando and Tampa with I-75 access. We treat Middleton work with the appropriate care for newer construction: milder cleaning chemistry that preserves original finishes, new-construction cleaning for pre-move-in or early post-move-in service, and family-household scheduling that accommodates work-from-home calls and school pickup.

Beyond Middleton, Wildwood includes the established neighborhoods that have anchored the city for decades. These older sections include homes from the early-to-mid 20th century rural Wildwood era, mid-century single-family construction, and various 1970s-1990s additions. Many of these established homes have vinyl or aluminum siding, original window frames, mature landscaping, and other elements that high-pressure washing would damage. We use a low-pressure soft wash technique with biodegradable detergent that cleans these older surfaces without damaging the original materials. Many of these established Wildwood homes have been owned by the same family for decades, with the property representing a meaningful share of the household's net worth and decades of community history.

Wildwood and the surrounding rural Sumter County area include a meaningful share of mobile and manufactured homes alongside conventional single-family homes, particularly in the older established sections. Manufactured homes need a different cleaning approach than stick-built. The vinyl and aluminum siding panels common to manufactured construction can be damaged by high-pressure water, vent caps can crack, and the seals around windows and doors can be forced open. Our low-pressure soft wash method is designed specifically for manufactured home exteriors.

Worth acknowledging because it shapes the city's identity: many Wildwood residents work in or directly serve The Villages community. Per the U.S. News reporting on Wildwood's growth, the city serves as a primary location for those who provide services to The Villages' vast retiree population. This means Wildwood residents understand Villages-quality service standards from working within them, and they bring those expectations home to their own properties. We respect those standards. The same certified methods we apply for Villages residents are the methods we apply for Wildwood residents, regardless of which side of the city limits the home sits on.

Wildwood is one of the most retirement-leaning communities we serve. With a median age of approximately 64 years and roughly 42 percent of residents aged 65 or older, Wildwood is genuinely a retirement-majority city. Many homeowners have been retired for years or decades, with the home equity representing a meaningful share of net worth and decades of memory. We treat every Wildwood property with the respect that comes from understanding what a home represents for a longtime retired homeowner. Honest pricing, on-time service, no upsells, and methods that protect the property.

Wildwood's location at the I-75 and Florida's Turnpike (SR-91) intersection makes it a real regional transportation hub. The city is approximately equidistant from Orlando (60 miles east) and Tampa (75 miles southwest), and the I-75 corridor provides direct connection north to Ocala (35-40 minutes) and Gainesville (90 minutes). This regional accessibility has been a significant driver of Wildwood's growth, with new residents drawn by the affordability and the easy interstate access. For our service operations, the I-75 access means Wildwood is one of our closer service area destinations.
Every service is delivered by Randy and Matt personally with commercial-grade equipment and certified technique. We do not subcontract.

Earlier this year we got a call from a homeowner in one of the established Wildwood neighborhoods preparing to take advantage of the strong real estate market and list their home. The 1990s era single-family home had been the primary residence for over 25 years with mature oak canopy on the north and east sides, original vinyl siding, an asphalt shingle roof showing visible Gloeocapsa magma streaks from the road, and a concrete driveway with decades of irrigation staining. The owner was on a fixed retirement income and had been quoted unrealistic prices by out-of-town companies that claimed Villages affiliations they could not back up.
We walked the property, explained that we are an independent service provider rather than an official Villages-affiliated vendor, and gave them one written quote covering the house, the roof, and the driveway with no upsells. Soft washed the vinyl siding with the low-pressure chemistry that preserved the original panels. Treated the roof with ARMA-approved technique that killed the algae at the root and protected the shingle warranty. Surface cleaned the driveway. The work took most of one day. Listing photos shot the following week. The home sold inside ten days at full asking, with the buyer relocating from out of state and citing curb appeal as a key factor. The seller sent us to a Middleton neighbor the following month who was preparing for their first family Christmas in their new home. That is how most of our Wildwood work happens. One driveway, one neighbor, one America’s-fastest-growing-city conversation at a time.

We respect those standards and deliver to them as an independent provider working for homeowners directly.
Yes. Wildwood is a strongly retirement-leaning community (median age 64 with approximately 42 percent of residents aged 65 or older) but the recent Middleton master-planned community and other family-focused developments are bringing younger households into the city. Starr’s & Stripes accommodates both demographics. Our scheduling works around work-from-home calls and school pickup for working families, and our voice is respectful of longtime retired homeowners who chose Wildwood for the proximity to The Villages amenities.
